Veteran Tuition Credit Program
Veterans attending any approved educational institution may apply for the Veterans Tuition Credit Program. Under the program, partial reimbursement is provided to the institution to offset the cost of the veteran's tuition. Maximum reimbursement is $400 per year for full-time students, $200 for part-time students. To qualify, the veteran must have been on active duty between Dec.31, 1960, and May 7, 1975, and have been a legal resident of N.J. at the time of entrance into or discharge from the service, or two years immediately prior to application.
  1. Veteran of the armed forces of the U.S. who is or was eligible for veterans educational assistance pursuant to federal law and served on active duty in the armed forces of the U.S. between December 31, 1960 and May 7, 1975. (Vietnam Era veterans only).
  2. Legal resident of N.J. at the time of induction into the armed forces, or at the time of discharge from active duty or for a period of not less than one year prior to making application, exclusive of time spent on active duty. If a veteran was not a New Jersey resident at time of induction or separation, veteran must provide documentation reflecting residency--copy of NJ income Tax Return, letter from Postmaster, home mortgage or apartment lease.
  3. Currently enrolled as a undergraduate or graduate student in an approved State Approving Agency course at an eligible academic, professional or vocational institution in the U.S.
  4. Student must not owe a refund on a federal or state grant or not in default on a student loan.
