New Academic Progress Policy: The Department of Education revised the rules for Satisfactory Academic Progress for aid recipients. All aid recipients are affected by this new federal mandates. Please take the time to read the new policy for Satisfactory Academic Progress as there may be a significant impact on your future aid packages.

The 2012-2013 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available! Make sure to complete your 2012-2013 FAFSA as soon as possible. We must receive your completed FAFSA by March 15, 2012 for priority consideration. Use estimated information if you have not filed your taxes. Once you file your taxes, use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to transfer your financial information to your FAFSA. Mistakes to Avoid

GRADUATE STUDENTS: 2012-2013 Changes to the Federal Direct Subsidized Loan program. Due to federal regulatory changes for 2012-2013, the Federal Direct Subsidized Loan program for graduate students is eliminated, effective with loan periods starting on or after July 1, 2012. As a result, you are no longer eligible to receive Federal Direct Subsidized Loans. However, graduate students can still qualify for Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loans up to $20,500. Please visit Grad PLUS or Private Loans for other borrowing options for next year.

In addition, the up-front interest rebate will no longer be offered on any Direct Loan first disbursed on or after July 1, 2012.

 Can I get a list of all the federal loans I have taken out through Rutgers?
Yes. Visit http://www.nslds.ed.gov to obtain up-to-date information about your loan balances and disbursements. Log into the National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS), with your name, social security number, date of birth and federal PIN (the same PIN used to sign your FAFSA). Parents wishing to obtain information on PLUS loans can follow the same procedure using their own login credentials.
